VACANT is a visual metaphor for a rather empty time. The world has been delirious for months and months (2020-21), and we were closed off to much of what we once called the natural order of our lives. Like the spaces herein that once bustled with commerce, we are still torpid – suspended in a seeming unreality that is, nevertheless, the true condition of the winter of our humanity.
These photographs are the result for my need to wander, observe, and find the delights of being a photographer. I am always energized with phone and hand! The windows I peered in become openings to make something transcendent from that which, otherwise, seemed mundane and abandoned from its utility.
Hopefully we all find renewal, both physically and metaphorically in the years to come. We must adapt to our conditions with the spirit of creativity!
